Early Childhood

"When families have access to high-quality child care for their children, we all reap the benefits. To prioritize the wellbeing of our youngest residents means to invest in the foundation of Fresno County’s success where children flourish, families prosper and communities thrive."

Fabiola González, Executive Director, First 5 Fresno County

The Fresno C2C Preconception to Age 5 Network was launched in 2017 to bring together our early childhood care and education experts. Building on good progress make in home visitation coordination and expansion, childcare workforce expansion and improving maternal care, in 2023 we refreshed our strategic plan and developed this ambitious goal: Fresno County will have a well-functioning, culturally responsive two-generation model of family support in place that reduces pre-term births, promotes kindergarten readiness, and produces notable gains in 3rd grade reading and math assessments.

There are four focus area priorities:
Safe and Affirming Environments, Family Support, Quality Early Care & Education Settings, and Healthy Starts

The new Strategic Framework outlines the comprehensive vision, goals and 26 strategies that the network will implement in the coming years.
